League: National Professional Soccer League

History: When the National Professional Soccer League agreed to merge with the rival United Soccer Association, each team had a franchise in Chicago. Therefore the Chicago Spurs moved to Kansas City for the inaugural season of the new North American Soccer League in 1968, while the USA's Mustangs remained in the Windy City. The '68 Spurs finished first in the Gulf Division, but lost to San Diego in the playoffs. Home games were played at Municipal Stadium.
